How to determine the door opening direction (right/left)?
The direction of door opening, whether right or left, is determined by looking at the door from outside the room or building where it is installed. It is important whether the door opens outward or inward, and on which side the hinges are located. Knowing these details, we can easily determine what type of door we are dealing with:
Doors opening inwards
- Left-hand door: When the door opens into the room and the hinges are on the right side (looking from the outside), it is a left-hand door.
- Right-hand door: When the door opens to the inside of the room and the hinges are on the left side (looking from the outside), it is a right-hand door.
Outward opening doors
- Left-hand door: If the door opens to the outside of the building and the hinges are on the left side (looking from the outside), it is a left-hand door.
- Right-hand door: If the door opens to the outside of the building and the hinges are on the right side (looking from the outside), it is a right-hand door.
Remember that it is crucial to look at the door from the perspective of a person outside the room or building in which it is installed. In this way, you will clearly determine whether we are dealing with a right or left door and in which direction it opens.
