Self-cleaning glass is a modern solution in the field of glass technology, which makes it much easier to keep windows clean without frequent cleaning. Glass is coated with special coatings that use natural processes to minimize the amount of work required to keep the windows clean.

How do self-cleaning glasses work?

Photocatalytic layer: A photocatalytic coating, usually based on titanium dioxide (TiO2), is applied to the outside of the glass. When exposed to UV light (even on cloudy days), this coating activates, breaking down organic contaminants such as grease or pollen that settle on the glass.
Hydrophilic nature of the coating: The coating changes the surface properties of the glass from hydrophobic (repels water) to hydrophilic (attracts water). This causes water from rain to spread evenly over the entire surface of the glass, instead of forming droplets. This makes it easier for water to wash away dirt.
Self-cleaning effect: When rain falls on the glass, the water, instead of running down in droplets, forms a thin layer that "washes away" the impurities spread by the UV light. This effect is much more effective than with traditional glass, where water could leave streaks.
